The match began with a setback for the Pole, who dropped the first set after a solitary break of serve in the third game.
Despite having four break points to level the score, Świątek was unable to capitalize on these opportunities. However, the Polish star displayed resilience and tactical prowess as she turned the tide in the subsequent sets.
The second set saw Świątek break Andreeva’s serve early, while the decisive third set was clinched by a break in the 11th game, followed by Świątek closing the match on her own serve.
Świątek’s will next face Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka on Sunday, the tournament’s third seed, who defeated Russian Lyudmila Samsonova (No. 10) 6:3, 6:2 in the quarter-final match.
This will be the 12th meeting between Świątek and Sabalenka, with the Pole holding an 8-3 edge in their head-to-head record, including two victories earlier this year in Madrid and Rome.
In the second round of the event, other Polish players Magda Linette and Magdalena Fręch were eliminated, marking an early exit for the duo.
For many players, the Cincinnati Open serves as the final preparation before the last Grand Slam of the season, the U.S. Open, which starts on August 26.
