Polish men's volleyball team lost to France 0:3 (19:25, 20:25, 23:25) in the Olympic final in Paris. Despite the harsh defeat, the team will return to the country with their heads held high as this is the first Olympic medal for Poland in volleyball since 1976.

The players coached by Nikola Grbić have already gone down in history as the winners of the first medal for Poland in any Olympic team competition since the men's football team in 1992 in Barcelona, who also ended up as runner-ups.

The hosts defended the title they won three years ago at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The bronze medal at the Paris Games went to the U.S. team who defeated Italy 3:0 on Friday.

Poland, the world ranking's leaders, has won four Olympic medals in its history, including gold at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, but failed to reach the medal zone in the last five Olympic Games: Athens, Beijing, London, Rio and Tokyo. The Paris Olympic Games will conclude on Sunday.
