Natalia Kaczmarek of Poland finished third in the women’s 400 meters at the Paris Olympics on Friday.
Friday’s bronze was the European champion and Polish record holder’s third Olympic medal. At the Tokyo 2020 games, she took gold in the mixed 4 × 400 relay and silver in the women’s 4 × 400 relay. She finished on Friday in a time of 48.98 seconds, the third time in her career she has broken the 49-second barrier, breaking a Polish record that had stood for almost half a century.
Friday’s final was won by Marileidy Paulino of the Dominican Republic, who set an Olympic record for the distance with a time of 48.17 seconds. Silver went to Bahrain’s Salwa Eid Naser, who finished in 48.53 seconds.
Kaczmarek’s bronze is Poland’s seventh medal of the Paris Games, adding to the previous tally of one gold, one silver, and four bronze.
