An American YouTuber who boasted he could beat Poland’s Olympic sprinting sensation Ewa Swoboda in a race could soon find himself in Poland after the 27-year-old champ took up his challenge.

Darren Watkins Jr., who goes by the name IShowSpeed, told his 27 million subscribers in a recent livestream that after watching a video of Swoboda in action, “nobody in the world” could beat him.

He added: “I am very serious. There has never been a moment in my life when I was surpassed. That is why people call me Speed.”

The clip quickly went viral, eventually reaching Swoboda, who said that if the YouTuber came to Poland she would take him on.

She admitted that the odds of it happening were low, however, as Speed has only recently ended an extended trip in Europe.

Swoboda said: “I called my mum and dad to brag that I just got a new tattoo.

“I got the Olympic rings and they told me, ‘oh my god, Ewa, did you see that some Youtuber just challenged you?’

“Well, if he comes to Poland and he competes in the RMF FM radio contest, maybe I'll run with him. But he has already been to Poland, so the chances are slim.”

She added that “on August 24, there will be a race at the Silesian Stadium, where the winners of the RMF FM competition will run 100 meters with me, so maybe he'll still have time to sign up.”

Speed has yet to respond to her challenge.

Ranked Europe’s number 1 sprinter, Swoboda failed to reach the 100m finals at the Olympic Games in Paris, but her medal hopes are still alive as she prepares to compete in the 4x100m relay this week.

In recognition of her sporting prowess, she became one of nine new Barbie doll models in May this year, representing top sportswomen and promoting female athletes as role models.
