The star of the Polish women’s under-17 team, Weronika Araśniewicz, has joined Spanish club Barcelona Femení.

The 16-year-old becomes the third Polish player to join the Catalan giant's women’s team.

Emilia Szymczak and the recently arrived Ewa Pajor are already part of the Barcelona senior squad. Meanwhile, the men’s team includes Poland’s all-time top scorer, Robert Lewandowski.

Araśniewicz arrives from Diamenty Warszawa (Warsaw Diamonds) and was officially confirmed by the club last week.

Araśniewicz is an extremely talented player who played a major part in helping the Polish U-17 team to third place at the European Championships. Initially, she will play for Barcelona Femení C prior to challenging for a first-team place. “The time has come to say goodbye. Our joint “diamond adventure” is coming to an end. I am very happy that the culmination of this journey was the award in the form of the CLJ U18 League podium,” Araśniewicz posted on social media.

“This is a perfect summary of the work we have done over the past two years. I am still keeping my fingers crossed for you and rooting for you. See you soon!” she added. Barca Femení are arguably the world’s strongest women’s club team. They have won three of the last four Women’s Champions League titles and are the dominant force in Spain’s women’s La Liga, having won the league title for the past five consecutive seasons.
