As Poland’s reputation as a tourist hotspot continues to rise, a new report has revealed which nationalities are flocking to its mountains and seaside.

Poland’s Tatra mountains and the holiday town of Zakopane have seen a surge in the number of tourists with one hotelier telling the news portal polskieradio24.pl that this year has seen “about 20-25% more foreign tourists than in previous years.”

The hotel owner went on to say that many came from Hungary, Slovakia, Great Britain, the U.S., Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy, Lithuania, Ukraine, Malta, Norway, Ireland, and Israel.

But an increasing number of guests come from the Middle East.

According to the portal, in 2023 “foreign tourists made up 30% of all visitors to Zakopane. The largest number, 30%, were guests from Arab countries.”

“New Croatia”

Poland’s seaside has also seen a boom in tourism, with Czechs in particular visiting the Baltic coast, dubbed “the second Adriatic” by local media.

Magdalena Węgrowicz, deputy director of the Pomeranian Regional Tourist Organization told the news portal: “We have become the ‘New Croatia’ for the Czechs primarily because they now have convenient access to the Polish seaside.

“They are also attracted by the economic factor and the fact that due to climate change, Croatia has become too warm for them.

She added that the Baltic offered more varied weather.

In addition to Czechs, the Baltic coast has also seen an increase in tourists from Germany and Scandinavian countries, the portal said.
