Poland’s Katarzyna Piter and Hungary’s Fanny Stollar won the WTA Budapest doubles final, defeating second-seeded Anna Danilina and Irina Khromacheva 6-3, 3-6, 10-3.
Piter, a seasoned player, has now secured her third career title in prestigious ATP tournaments of the 250 category or higher. This victory also marks the pair’s second consecutive triumph in Budapest.
The singles title in Budapest will be contested by Russia’s Diana Shnaider and Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus.
In the semifinals, Sasnovich defeated Slovakian Anna Karolina Schmiedlova 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, while top-seeded Shnaider beat German Eva Lys 6-3, 6-3.
Magdalena Fręch, seeded fifth, exited in the first round, losing to Russia’s Elina Avanesyan 6-7 (5-7), 4-6.
Last year, she won in Budapest with Stollar and in Palermo with France’s Kristina Mladenovic. Additionally, Piter and Stollar claimed victory in an ATP 125 event in Valencia this year.Pure joy 😀
