A Polish climber has died while climbing in the Slovakian Tatra mountains, local mountain rescue service reported.
The incident happened as the 48-year-old man was trying to reach the Dvojitá veža (could be translated as Double or Twin Tower) peak, 2,311 m above sea level.
After the Slovak Mountain Rescue Service (Horská záchranná služba) received a report of the incident at Saturday noon, a helicopter was called in to help, bringing rescuers to the scene.
A 39-year-old woman - who reported the incident and the death of her companion - was evacuated.
This is the second fatal accident in the Slovakian part of Tatras this week. On Thursday, a sudden and strong storm caused a landslide, killing two.
While sixteen tourists hid in a shelter by the trail, a sudden rise in water washed away the trail. The two hikers could not be saved, and four more were injured.
