Polish tennis star Hubert Hurkacz faced an initial setback in his Wimbledon campaign, losing the first set 5-7 to Moldova’s Radu Albot before rallying to win the next three sets 6-4, 6-3, 6-4, securing his spot in the second round.
Albot, ranked 144th globally and having fought through qualifiers to reach the main draw, posed a challenge despite Hurkacz’s seventh-seed status.
Following a rain delay during the match, Hurkacz returned to the court with renewed vigor, ultimately breaking Albot’s serve and leveling the game.
“We're in England, so rain is to be expected,” Hurkacz noted, drawing on his experience managing similar conditions at the French Open earlier this year.
He also thanked his fans for supporting him during the match.
Reflecting on his performance, Hurkacz acknowledged the challenges of adapting mid-match, especially against an opponent as resilient as Albot. The No.7 seed makes no mistake 🇵🇱
