Germany has made footballing history after hammering Scotland 5-1 in their opening game of Euro24 in Munich.

In a match that saw the biggest ever victory by a side in the opening game of the European Championship, it took Germany less than 10 minutes to take the lead with Florian Wirtz scoring from just outside the box.

Jumal Musiala added a second just minutes later while Kai Havertz netted a penalty after Ryan Porteous was sent off for a nasty tackle on Captain IIkay Gundogan to leave a desperate Scotland 3-0 down by half-time.

Scotland managed to pull one back with an own goal by Antonio Rudiger, but it didn’t take long for Germany to come back with a blistering shot from Niclas Fuellkrug to take the score to 4-1.

The final humiliation for Scotland came in injury time via Emre Can to give the hosts their biggest-ever win in European Championship history, and the biggest ever victory by a side in the opening game of the tournament.
