Poland will relentlessly pursue the criminal who brutally killed a Polish soldier, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said on Tuesday.

The soldier guarding the Polish-Belarusian border was stabbed in the chest by a migrant at the end of May. Despite the aid provided at the site and the efforts of doctors, his life could not be saved.

Speaking at a conference alongside Deputy Foreign Minister Cezary Tomczyk and Chief of the General Staff General Wiesław Kukuła, Kosiniak-Kamysz highlighted that Poland faces challenges not seen since World War II, including hybrid attacks, the war in Ukraine, and cyber and border assaults.

“Poland will do everything in its power and will not rest until the criminal who brutally and fatally attacked a Polish soldier is caught,” he said, adding that all state services, soldiers and officers of the Polish Armed Forces, police, special services, and Border Guard are involved in this process.

“The Polish state is committed to capturing this criminal. This is our solemn pledge, a commitment not only of the government or the National Security Council but of Poland and all Poles. We owe this to our fallen soldier,” he concluded.
