The second stage of tactical nuclear drills started in Russia with the participation of Belarusian troops, as announced by the country’s Ministry of Defense.

The ministry stated that the exercises aim to ensure that military personnel and equipment from both countries are prepared to defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“During the exercise, units from the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus will engage in joint training for the combat use of non-strategic nuclear weapons,” the Defense Ministry explained.

Last month, Russian President Vladimir Putin directed his military to practice deploying tactical nuclear weapons in response to perceived threats from France, Britain, and the United States.

The strategic partnership between Russia and Belarus has grown closer in recent years, with Alexander Lukashenko supporting Putin’s stance on various international issues.
