Ukrainian military intelligence (GUR) drones attacked a Russian military airfield in North Ossetia, used for strikes against Ukraine, according to Ukrainian media sources.

Ukrainska Pravda reported that this planned operation by Ukrainian intelligence employed enhanced domestically-produced equipment.

The targeted airfield in Mozdok is used by Russian forces in their operations against Ukraine.

This attack marks the first drone strike in North Ossetia, a region over 900 kilometers from Ukraine.

The strike signifies Ukraine’s expanding capability to hit targets deep within Russian territory.

The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the attack, stating one drone was shot down. North Ossetia’s leader, Sergey Menyaylo, claimed three drones were intercepted, with no casualties or damage reported. The RBK-Ukraine news website noted that the Mozdok airfield houses the 485th Helicopter Regiment and MiG 31K aircraft capable of carrying Kinzhal missiles.
