Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen was assaulted by a man in downtown Copenhagen on Friday but showed no signs of harm, a local resident told Reuters.
The incident took place at Kultorvet square, where Frederiksen was attacked by a man who was quickly arrested.
“The Prime Minister is shocked by the incident,” her office stated. Police confirmed the arrest on social media platform X and are investigating but provided no further details.
Soren Kjergaard, a barista on the square, told Reuters Frederiksen seemed “a little stressed” as security escorted her away.
Danish Minister of Environment Magnus Heunicke commented on X: “Something like this must not happen in our beautiful, safe and free country. We all have a responsibility to look after each other and the values our country is built on.”
He added: “Regardless of political disagreements, election campaign etc. This is ugly and unacceptable.”
Recently, Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico was seriously injured in an assassination attempt.

Sådan noget må ikke ske i vores smukke, sikre og frie…
