A Belarusian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter has been arrested along with two others on suspicion of carrying out acts of sabotage in Poland on behalf of Russian special services.

According to the BelPol organization, Stsiapan K. (37) was seized along with another Belarusian and one Pole on May 27 by Poland’s Internal Security Agency (ABW).

BelPol,an association of former Belarusian security forces that decided to fight against the Minsk regime, added that the MMA fighter has lived in Poland for several years. “There is a very high probability that persons with such a resume can be recruited by the special services,” BelPol said.

The MMA fighter was identified after a video of the suspects’ arrest, in which a Belarusian number plate can be seen, was published in Polish media.

BelPol also established that the man had a previous criminal record, serving a 3-year sentence for stealing 35 cell phones.
Among other things, the men detained by the ABW are suspected of setting fire to a Warsaw market hall at Marywilska 44.

Russia intensifies attacks

Polish Defense Minister Władyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz told a press conference on Saturday that Russia is intensifying attacks from various directions.

He spoke of “daily acts of sabotage and diversion,” including arson, as well as attacks on soldiers on the Polish-Belarusian border.

“We are dealing with the most serious hybrid attack on Poland. The aggravation has already reached these highest levels,” the minister said.
