Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a new security deal with Sweden and Norway as he continues to lobby for long-term military support.

Under the terms of the agreement, Sweden will transfer its complete stock of armor-tracked personnel carriers and two ASC 890 surveillance aircraft - key for identifying incoming cruise missiles and drones as well as selecting air and sea targets.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristesson said: “You are literally fighting not only for your own freedom, but also for our freedom and security.”

Ukraine also signed a ten-year security deal with Norway which will complement a pre-existing bilateral military and humanitarian aid program worth seven billion dollars over five years. The new deal will focus on maritime and air defenses and could possibly see production switched to Ukraine.

Issuing a joint statement, the Nordic countries and Zelenskyy said: "We will jointly strive to increase Ukraine's and our own production capacity to meet Ukraine's needs for battle-decisive munitions."

Zelenskyy added: “You can see that Russia is trying to expand the war - only together can we stop the madness from Moscow.”

Ukraine has now signed fifteen security agreements with Western nations; aside from the deals with Sweden and Norway, Zelenskyy also signed a ten-year agreement with Finland on Friday. The Nordic states are all now members of NATO and have proved staunch allies of Kyiv.
