Poland will face a stern test at next year’s handball World Championship when they will come up against Germany, Czechia and Switzerland in the group stage.

Next year's championship will be played across three countries - Croatia, Norway and Denmark. Poland have been drawn in Group A and will play their matches in Herning, Denmark.

The Poles were in the third of four pots, with the fourth representing what in theory would be the weakest team. However, they will be pitted against the strongest side in the fourth pot, Switzerland, who got a wild card entry.
The Poles might feel a little hard done by following a tough draw at this year’s European Handball Championship, where they were eliminated at the group stage after difficult encounters with much higher-ranked sides, Norway and Slovenia.

Poland will begin their World Championship campaign next year against Germany (January 15). Then they will face the Czech Republic (January 17), coached by Xavi Sabate, whose full time is with Polish domestic double double winners Orlen Wisła Płock. The final game will be against Switzerland (January 19).

Three teams qualify from each of the eight groups to the second group stage, and they carry with them the total points earned prior to the first group stage. The top two teams from each of the four groups of six will qualify for the quarterfinals.

The World Championship will begin on January 14 and last until February 2. Denmark will be defending their crown after winning the previous two tournaments in 2021 and 2023.
