Poland’s foreign minister has warned entrepreneurs that attempting to get around sanctions imposed on countries is a criminal offense.
Radosław Sikorski told a press conference in Warsaw that businesses should take particular care to make sure their activities did not break the law and that the products they deal with do not come from sanctioned countries.
He said: “I have a message, first of all, for our Polish enterprises: circumventing European sanctions is a crime.”
“Please think twice, check, we provide information at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, customs offices, and the National Treasury, so as not to expose yourself and your companies to very serious consequences.”
Sharing the conference with EU special envoy for sanctions David O’Sullivan, Sikorski went on to say that he had shared information with O’Sullivan regarding Poland’s activities.
The Foreign Minister said: “We discussed trends in sanctions circumvention and discussed work on subsequent sanctions packages, which will cover new persons and goods, but will also improve their enforcement.”
