Polish national team manager Michał Probierz will announce a preliminary 29-member squad for Euro 2024 on Wednesday; this will eventually be whittled down to 26.

According to TVP Sport, three players from the domestic league, Ekstraklasa, have made the cut: Taras Romanczuk, Kamil Grosicki, and Bartosz Salamon.

Romanczuk has had an excellent season, captaining newly crowned Polish league champions Jagiellonia Białystok. The Ukrainian-born player returned to the national team in March after a six-year absence. He had been under consideration by Adam Nawałka for the 2018 World Cup but was a surprise omission.

Romanczuk was among the nominees for Ekstraklasa player of the season. That accolade went to veteran winger Grosicki, who clocked up some remarkable numbers, grabbing 13 goals and 14 assists in the league. The Pogoń Szczecin captain looks set to participate in his fifth major international tournament, making him one of the most experienced players in the squad.

The third domestic-based player, according to TVP Sport, will be Salamon, who made his comeback at the end of last year after being suspended due to a doping investigation.

The Lech Poznan player quickly regained his form and made appearances for the national team in March.

The 33-year-old, a Euro 2016 squad member, is the group’s talisman, as the team has not lost any of the 12 occasions in which he played.

TVP Sport has further asserted that Matty Cash will not make it to Euro 2024, and his place will go to Dominik Marczuk, who has had an impressive season with the champions, Jagiellonia.

Cash has been struggling with a calf injury at the tail end of the season and lost his place in the national team to Lens wing back Przemysław Frankowski.
