Poland’s foreign minister has warned of ‘chronic instability’ and ‘ a coalition of global dictatorships’ if Russia defeats Ukraine.

Speaking at the London Defence Conference on Thursday, Radosław Sikorski told delegates: “If Russia is victorious in Ukraine, chronic instability would spread across the world and give fuel to a global coalition of dictatorships.”

He also said that Russia would not win the war, unless the world lets it happen, and that Ukrainian soldiers are not just defending their country but also “they are buying Europe time to rebuild our own deterrence.”

Attending the meeting a day after Britain called a General Election, Sikorski added: “I think that British policy will continue in a direction that is consistent with Polish policy, we will be close allies here, above the standard in the North Atlantic Alliance.”

The day before, Sikorski was in Germany at a meeting of the Weimar Triangle - a regional alliance of France, Germany, and Poland - where he said that there was “a war at the borders” citing the war in Ukraine, the upcoming European elections, and political uncertainty in the U.S.
