Authorities in Sweden have apprehended yet another individual in relation to the homicide case involving a 39-year-old Polish man in Stockholm in April.

The suspect, a 17-year-old, stands accused of harboring the perpetrator of the murder.

This latest arrest adds to the two teenagers already detained under similar charges by a court in Huddinge back in mid-April. Prosecutor Ove Jäverfelt confirmed that these individuals are acquainted with each other, although no direct murder charges have been filed thus far.

To date, no one has been charged with murder. Jäverfelt expressed confidence that solving the case “is only a matter of time.” Recent efforts by law enforcement, including a thorough search of the Vårby forest near Skärholmen where the incident occurred, have been aimed at recovering the murder weapon.

While a young man was arrested in mid-April on weapon-related charges, authorities clarify that he is not directly linked to the Polish man’s murder but to a separate offense in March.

Nonetheless, he maintains connections with the arrested teenagers. Additionally, a 40-year-old man was detained by police on April 19 in connection to the case but was subsequently released after questioning.

The victim, Michał, or Mikael, Janicki, a 39-year-old Polish-born resident of Stockholm, tragically lost his life on April 10 while walking to the pool with his son. An altercation with a group of youths under a viaduct escalated, resulting in a fatal gunshot.
