Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy strongly denounced what he termed a significant rocket assault by “Nazi Putin” on the anniversary of Victory Day in World War II. Zelenskyy’s remarks came in response to a series of overnight and early morning attacks on Ukrainian targets, where Russia reportedly deployed over 50 missiles and drones.

In a statement on Telegram, Zelenskyy described the event as a “massive rocket attack by Nazi Putin on the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II.”

The Ukrainian leader disclosed that the Russian strikes utilized more than 50 missiles and over 20 Shahed drones, manufactured in Iran. Infrastructure across several regions, including Lviv, Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Poltava, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhzhia, and Ivano-Frankivsk, suffered damage. Zelenskyy reassured the public that all relevant services were actively engaged in mitigating the aftermath of the attacks.

Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of global recognition, urging the world to unequivocally identify the perpetrators. He stated, “The whole world must clearly understand who is who. The world has no right to give Nazism another chance.”

Ukrainian Air Force Commander General Mykola Oleshchuk revealed that Russian forces launched 55 missiles and 21 drones towards Ukraine.

“As a result of air combat, 59 targets were destroyed: 33 maneuvering missiles Ch-101/Ch-55, four Kalibr maneuvering missiles, two guided aerial missiles Ch-59/Ch-69, and 20 Shahed 131/136 strike drones,” the general informed on Telegram.

Attack near Polish border

In a morning rocket attack on Ukraine, Russian forces targeted a power plant in the Chervonohrad district, situated near the Polish border. On Wednesday, Maksym Kozytskyi, head of Lviv region authorities, announced that a fire had erupted at the site as a result of the assault.

“Today, close to 5 a.m., the attackers launched missiles at an energy production facility in the Chervonohrad district. There are currently two fire points. Firefighters and specialized equipment are actively engaged on-site. There is no imminent danger to nearby residents,” Kozytskyi stated on Telegram.

Kozytskyi also reported that Russians had attacked another critical infrastructure site in the Stryi area. “As of now, there have been no reports of casualties or injuries in our region,” he emphasized.
