Szymon Marciniak is to take charge of the second leg of the Champions League semi-final between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. The match will take place on May 8, and follows on from a 2-2 first leg draw in Germany.
Marciniak will be joined by linesmen Tomasz Listkiewicz and Adam Kupsik. Completing the Polish contingent, Tomasz Kwiatkowski will man the VAR and will be assisted by Bartosz Frankowski. The same squad will accompany Marciniak to Germany to officiate the upcoming European Championships.
Regarded as one of the best in his profession, the 43-year-old from Plock has previously refereed at Euro 2016 and the last two world cups. His performance in the final of the 2022 World Cup Final between Argentina and France has been cited as the greatest display of refereeing at a final.
Marciniak also refereed the last Champions League Final. This year, the final is set to take place on June 1 at Wembley.
