Two Polish cave explorers have found the body of a man in Slovenia's Golokratna cave. Local authorities are attempting to determine his identity, although no disappearances have been reported in the area.
The Polish citizens spotted the body in the Golokratna cave near the town of Sežana in southwestern Slovenia on Friday evening, Slovenian website siol.net reported.
The middle-aged man discovered in the cave was not carrying climbing or caving equipment.
Following bad weather and slippery terrain, the removal of the body was initially postponed and finally brought to the surface on Saturday, the website reported.
“The action began at 7 a.m. and ended just after noon," said Samo Milanič, head of intervention and the Sežana Cave Rescue Center.
The body is being examined by forensic experts and Slovenian police are investigating the case.
