President Andrzej Duda has announced the appointment of Lieutenant General Marek Sokolowski to the position of general commander of the Polish Armed Forces and Brigadier General Krzysztof Stanczyk to head the Territorial Defense Force (WOT).
The promoted commanders will receive official documentation rubber-stamping their appointment on Friday, May 3rd. The date will coincide with the 233rd anniversary of the signing of the May 3rd Constitution of 1791.
Writing on X, the National Security Bureau (BBN) said that Sokolowski had already been serving as the acting general commander of the Polish Armed Forces. Likewise, Stanczyk has also gained experience as the acting commander of WOT.
President Duda has also signed off on the promotion of Lieutenant General Slawomir Wojciechowski to the rank of general in the Polish Armed Forces. Wojciechowski currently serves as Poland's military representative to both NATO and the EU’s Military Committee.
