Lidl Poland, a prominent player in the country’s retail landscape since 2002, has recently unveiled remarkable statistics regarding the export of Polish regional products under its private labels. The chain’s collaboration with 840 Polish suppliers in 2023 has resulted in record-breaking sales of “Made in Poland” goods in Lidl stores around Europe.
The surge in exports signifies a notable trend wherein Polish products are making a substantial impact beyond national borders, resonating with consumers across diverse markets.
Lidl’s extensive network spanning 28 foreign countries has provided a robust platform for Polish goods to gain traction. In 2023 alone, over 300 Polish suppliers exported their Lidl private label products, generating an impressive revenue of 6.45 billion złotys (€1.49 billion), underscoring the growing demand for Polish-made products abroad.
Over the past six years (2018-2023), Lidl’s exports of Polish products abroad have soared to a cumulative value of 25 billion zlotys (€5.79 billion).
Among the array of Polish products exported by Lidl, food items reign supreme, with meat, cured meats, dairy products, and bread emerging as top-selling categories.
These products have garnered immense popularity in eight key foreign markets, namely Romania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Bulgaria, and the United Kingdom, reaffirming the consistent consumer preference for Polish food quality.
One of such Polish products, the “Mlekpol” Dairy Cooperative has witnessed a significant boost in exports, with approximately one-third of its sales attributed to exports facilitated by Lidl Poland.
