During a gathering of the National Council of the Civic Platform (PO), Prime Minister Donald Tusk voiced concerns over escalating efforts by Russian and Belarusian entities to sway events across Europe, particularly in Poland. He highlighted reports from various capitals indicating potential interference in electoral processes by Russian actors.

Tusk stressed the importance of prioritizing safety in the upcoming elections, urging vigilance against emerging threats. He pointed to instances where individuals, allegedly funded by Russian services, have been implicated in planning attacks within and beyond Poland's borders.

Acknowledging the seriousness of these concerns, Tusk emphasized the need for heightened awareness and caution. He underscored that such matters, although sensitive, demand attention and action.

“I’m talking about matters that are no longer political nonsense, I’m not talking about lunatics anymore, but I’m talking about people who take money from Russian services and on behalf of Russian services prepare attacks in Poland and beyond Poland, unfortunately, they are from Poland. And I’m not talking about isolated cases,” said the head of government.

The Prime Minister’s remarks underscored a growing consensus among European leaders regarding the rising influence of Russian and Belarusian services. As preparations for the European Parliament elections continue, concerns persist about potential interference tactics, including aggressive ones, in the electoral process.

The upcoming elections, scheduled for June 6-9 across EU member states, serve as a critical juncture in European politics. With Poland set to elect 53 Members of the European Parliament on June 9, the need for safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process remains paramount.
