Polish top general discusses cooperation, Ukraine with V4 counterparts

Military leaders from the Visegrád Group (V4) have met to discuss defense cooperation and aid to Ukraine. Poland is represented by the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, General Wiesław Kukuła.

The top generals from Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia came together on Tuesday in Liblice, north Czech Republic, to look at ongoing military assistance and training of Ukrainian soldiers as well as to discuss joint training operations.

Czech’s General Staff spokesman Vlastimila Cyprisová said: “It will be necessary to discuss the development of the conflict in Ukraine, including military aid and training of Ukrainian soldiers, the impact of the new alliance model of forces on the V4 armies, and the tasks of logistical security in support of partner countries.”

She added that during the meeting, scheduled to end on Wednesday, the group would also discuss the future of the V4 combat group known as the EUBG, the command of the V4 joint logistics group, the exchange of experience from the war in Ukraine, and countering hybrid threats from Russia, air defense and ensuring logistical support.

The Visegrad Group is a political alliance between the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia, set to advance cooperation in military, economic, cultural, and energy affairs.
