Members of the Atesh partisan movement working in the Russian-occupied region of Crimea have released photographs and video footage revealing the scale of their reconnaissance work. The uploaded content, published on both Telegram and X, reveals the coordinates of oil depots and other key facilities in Sevastopol and Kerch.
Founded by Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars in 2022, the resistance group has stated that its goal is “the destruction of the Russian army from within.”. Previously, their actions have included the assassination of Russian officers and officials, car bomb attacks, and reporting on enemy troop movements.
Last week, Atesh also confirmed their involvement in the destruction of an S-400 air defense system station at the Dzhankoi airfield.
Writing on social media on April 22, the group revealed it had spent three months spying on oil depots.
“Atesh explored oil depots in Kerch,” read the post. “Our agents collected data from December to March. The sites are equipped with paramilitary security, video cameras and are regularly visited by tankers, indicating active use. Some are protected by air defense systems.”
The movement has stated that Ukraine’s defense forces first approve all information they publishin order to protect both Ukrainian armed forces personnel and Atesh agents.
Atesh’s findings came at a delicate time. According to the Financial Times, Washington has asked Ukraine to stop targeting refineries so as to prevent international oil prices from spiraling further. Written in March, the article cited three sources that claimed that the Biden administration feared that soaring oil prices would threaten the President’s re-election prospects.

Another post announced: “Atesh agents are actively scouting oil depots and key facilities in Sevastopol. Most are protected by concrete walls, barbed wire, video cameras and constant patrols. Neither fortifications nor hidden measures will help - Atesh will not stop!”The occupiers are strengthening fortifications in Crimea amid international support 🇺🇦.#ATESH agents discovered the active construction of fortifications in Crimea.
