Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski expressed disappointment regarding anti-aircraft defense systems for Ukraine, on Monday, following a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg.

Sikorski also described the situation in Ukraine’s energy sector as dire, noting that Russians have destroyed 70% of the country’s pre-war generating capacity.

“If more were to be destroyed, many places in Ukraine would become uninhabitable. This could trigger a wave of refugees with all its consequences,” Sikorski remarked during discussions with journalists, stressing the importance of providing anti-aircraft defense systems to Ukraine, a request that has been ongoing for several weeks.

“Unfortunately, I have not heard any specific commitments. The situation is very serious and could have very serious consequences. The responsibility falls on those who are not taking action,” Sikorski emphasized, estimating that EU countries possess about 100 air defense systems suitable for Ukraine.
When asked about the possibility of Poland transferring its Patriot systems to Ukraine, Sikorski noted, “Our country has only two batteries and is in a zone of direct war threat.”

“One of the Russian missiles fell 10 km from my home. I hope this illustrates how Poland cannot give away its batteries… Germany leads the “Patriot coalition”. They have announced that they will provide one battery. We wish them success and will support them in this,” the minister.
