Israel releases 150 detainees in Gaza Strip, including medical workers

In a recent development, Israel has released 150 individuals who were previously held captive in the Gaza Strip. Among those freed were two emergency medical personnel affiliated with the Palestinian Red Crescent Society. This news was reported by CNN on Monday, based on information provided by Palestinian sources.

According to reports, the medical workers had been detained by Israeli authorities for 50 days. Their arrest took place at a military checkpoint in Khan Younis towards the end of February while they were engaged in aiding the evacuation of patients from the Al-Amal hospital. This information was disclosed in a statement issued by the Palestinian Red Crescent and published on the X platform.

However, despite this release, concerns persist as six other representatives from the organization remain in Israeli custody, with their fate still uncertain.

Israeli officials have continuously asserted that medical facilities within the Gaza Strip serve as operational bases for Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups. Despite the circulation of videos and images supporting these claims, Hamas and hospital staff have vehemently denied any involvement in such activities.

The Gaza Strip health ministry revealed that over 33,700 individuals, including civilians and combatants, have lost their lives on the Palestinian side as a result of the ongoing conflict with Israel. This announcement comes following Hamas's incursion into Israeli territory on October 7, 2023, which resulted in numerous casualties and abductions.
