Friend of Pole killed by Israeli airstrike praises his courage in interview with TVP World

“Damian was a really good person; he was always helping everyone and went above and beyond,” said his friend Kasia in an interview with TVP World. An Israeli airstrike in Gaza killed the volunteer, but she praised him for his courage and willingness to help those in need.

He went to Gaza with the World Central Kitchen to bring help and relief to innocent people suffering death and starvation, Kasia said. “He knew that there was a danger, but he was a person who was never afraid.”

She told TVP World that Damian’s friends and family were shocked by this unexpected tragedy. “He was a person always open to the needs of others; whether they were Ukrainians in the first days of the war or now Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, he was first to help.”

Damian was among seven people working for World Central Kitchen who were killed in an Israeli airstrike in central Gaza on Monday.

The victims were traveling in two armored WCK cars when the convoy was hit by IDF missiles as it was leaving a warehouse after unloading more than 100 tons of humanitarian food aid brought to Gaza by sea.
