“Forbes” magazine has unveiled its latest list of billionaires, boasting 2,781 entries, marking an increase of 141 from the previous year, CBS News reported. Among those whose fortunes are valued at a billion dollars or more, eight are Poles, with the wealthiest ranked at 398th and the least affluent at 1945th.

This year’s list, the magazine highlighted, is longer than ever, including a record-breaking 2021. The billionaires are wealthier than before, with their combined worth reaching USD 14.2 trillion, up by USD 2 trillion from the previous year. The world's 20 richest individuals added USD 700 billion to their fortunes. Americans dominate the list with 813 entries, followed by China (including Hong Kong) with 473 spots, and India with 200 billionaires.
At the top, there are no newcomers. The number one spot is held by Bernard Arnault, the head of the French luxury goods company LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, boasting a fortune of USD 233 billion. Elon Musk, affected by Tesla’s performance, is at second with USD 195 billion, followed by Amazon’s founder Jeff Bezos, and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg.

“Forbes” also mentions several celebrities including Fox founder Rupert Murdoch, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, rapper Jay-Z, celebrity Kim Kardashian, and for the first time, pop star Taylor Swift, noted as the only music star whose wealth “comes exclusively from her music and concert tours.”

The richest woman on the list is L'Oreal heiress Francoise Bettencourt Meyers, ranking 15th with a net worth of USD 99.5 billion.

Representing Poland are investor and financier Michał Sołowow; Tomasz Biernacki, creator of the Dino Polska retail chain; Jerzy Starak, involved in the pharmaceutical industry; Paweł Marchewka, founder of Techland (making his first appearance on the "Forbes" list), as well as Zygmunt Solorz, Dominika Kulczyk, Zbigniew Juroszek, and Sebastian Kulczyk rounding out the list of Polish billionaires.
