Sports journalist Kacper Sosnowski commented on X, following Poland’s play-off final victory over Wales, that Santos was the quiet winner.
“After qualifying for the Euros, in accordance with the agreement on parting with PZPN (Polish Football Association), Fernando Santos will receive 25% of the qualification bonus written in his contract. This will be approximately PLN 775,000,” Sosnowski wrote.
Santos earned a significant amount from his short reign prior to his dismissal. His monthly earnings were around PLN 700,000 (EUR 163,000).
It is also worth remembering who appointed Santos and gave him such a huge contract. The president of PZPN, Cezary Kulesza’s decision-making deserves to come under scrutiny.
