Car dealers in Poland are celebrating a successful retail year as 43 of the 50 largest car dealerships in the country recorded a year-on-year sales increase of 26,6% on average in 2023, according to a report quoted by the Polish daily “Puls Biznesu” on Wednesday.
The newspaper, citing the results of a report conducted by DCG dealership Consulting and the Samar Automotive Market Research Institute on the top 50 car dealerships in Poland, reported that the large increase in new car sales was the result of an increase in interest among Poles in certain automobile brands.
According to the report, the largest dealership groups' high activity in expanding their brand and location portfolios could be the reason for the increase in purchases.
The findings clearly show a continuing consolidation within the market, where the 50 largest dealerships now represent 80% of all new car sales in Poland.
The past year also proved exceptional in terms of the historically highest number of cars sold by a single dealership network. The Cichy-Zasada Group, the leader of the car dealership market, exceeded 25,000 new cars sold during the year for the first time.
This was possible due to the Cichy-Zasada Group acquiring another car dealership, the Auto Wimar Group, Puls Biznesu recalled.
The newspaper highlighted that an unprecedentedly small number of dealerships are now responsible for a remarkably large proportion of new car sales in Poland, a situation never seen before.
