Polish FM doubts Russian explanation for airspace violation would be satisfactory

“It is absolutely unacceptable,” Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski told journalists, commenting on the Russian missile incident. When asked about the summoning of the Russian ambassador, he stated that Poland would demand an explanation for the incident, but he does not believe it would be satisfactory.

The head of Polish diplomacy, while speaking to reporters outside the ministry’s entrance Monday morning, noted that this is another such incident.

“This is not the first incident of this kind. It is absolutely unacceptable. We will demand explanations, but I don’t expect to get one; it will just be propaganda as usual,” Sikorski said.

“We will convene at the Prime Minister’s office to discuss this, and I’ll be speaking to the NATO Secretary General as well,” he added.

Asked by reporters whether the Russian ambassador had already been formally summoned to the Foreign Ministry, Sikorski replied to leave the “technicalities” to the government.

Earlier on Sunday, the Armed Forces Operational Command (DO RSZ) reported that “on March 24 this year at 4:23 a.m., there was a violation of Polish airspace by one of the cruise missiles launched by the long-range aviation of the Russian Federation. The targets of the strikes were localities located in western Ukraine.”
