Time is crucial when responding to Russia’s airspace threat: Gen. Bieniek for TVP World

How do the Polish Armed Forces prepare themselves to defend their country’s airspace when there is a possible threat of Russian intervention? To gain insights, TVP World was joined by General Mieczysław Bieniek, NATO strategic deputy commander for transformation

Gen. Bieniek said that Polish Forces do not operate independently, but rather in conjunction with their partners.

“We, as Polish Armed Forces, are not alone. We are in the NATO integrated air-and-missile defense system.” He also said that Poland also cooperates very closely with the airspace control of Ukraine, which is why “everytime when the Russian aggressive forces are conducting deadly attacks by missiles on Ukranians, we are being warned about that. Our fighter jets and aircrafts, which are on duty, are all the time taking off from particular airfields,” in order to patrol the probable region from which “the danger may come”.

“So, we [Polish Air Force - TVP World] are in a very high state of readiness in terms of potential attack… and interference into our airspace,” the General added.

He said that time is a crucial factor, which is why Poland has very productive early-warning systems. He also said that the Polish Armed Forces rely on the information imparted to them by their Ukrainian counterparts.
