Russian volunteer units fighting on the side of Ukraine, have declared that complete evacuation of the population from the region is necessary as a result of the fighting taking place in Russia's Belgorod region.
“Stop hiding behind the backs of civilians,” members of the Russian Freedom Legion, the Russian Volunteer Corps, and the Siberian Battalion appealed to Belgorod regional authorities on Wednesday.
“The liberation movement calls on the leadership of the Belgorod region, especially Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, to stop hiding behind civilians and immediately evacuate people from the entire territory of the Belgorod region,” Russian volunteers declared.
In a message on Telegram, they reported that three units that are fighting Russia on the Ukrainian side have continued and intensified strikes on military targets, threatening civilians. They accused the authorities of the Belgorod region of obstructing the evacuation.
“Gladkov! Think of your own people! You will be responsible for new casualties if there is no complete evacuation in the near future. Protect people’s lives,” a Russian volunteer unit wrote on telegram.
Infighting in Russia
Fighting between Putin regime forces and Russian volunteer formations subordinated to the authorities in Kyiv has been going on since March 12 in the Russian regions bordering Ukraine.
In recent days, guerrillas have announced that they have taken control of the villages of Tyotkino in the Kursk region and Gorkovsky in the Belgorod region.
On Tuesday, an independent Russian news channel on Telegram reported that 16 people had already been killed and 98 wounded in fighting that has been going on in the region for more than a week.
