Polish PM calls on U.S. House Speaker again to vote on Ukraine aid package

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has again urged Mike Johnson, speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, to put to a vote an urgently-needed aid package that includes USD 60 billion for Ukraine.

Johnson, a Republican, insists that he will not be “rushed” into approving the USD 95.3 billion foreign aid package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, of which Ukraine is planned to receive USD 60 billion.

Earlier this week, Tusk warned the U.S. official that “the fate of millions of people” and “thousands of lives” depends on whether the Republican allows a vote on the military aid to Kyiv.

“Look at Odesa, Speaker Johnson” Tusk wrote in English on the X platform on Saturday. “How many more arguments do you need to take a decision?” he added.

On Friday, Russian forces launched a missile attack on the Ukrainian port city of Odesa, targeting civilian infrastructure. As of Saturday, the number of people killed in the attack had increased to 21, while 70 were injured.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia would face a “fair response” from Ukrainian forces for what he described as a “vile” assault on a city that has been targeted by Russian drones or missiles almost daily this month.
