On Friday, heads of the Foreign Ministries of Poland and South Korea, Radoslaw Sikorski and Cho Tae-yul, respectively, in a phone conversation agreed on the strategic nature of relations between Poland and the Republic of Korea (South Korea), including investment, trade, and sectoral cooperation.
As stressed in the Polish ministry’s communiqué, Minister Sikorski noted with satisfaction that according to available data, the Republic of Korea remains the largest Asian investor in Poland, and the trend of opening new investments is growing.
He also noted that nearly 700 South Korean companies operate in Poland, giving jobs to at least several thousand employees. Access of Polish goods to the South Korean market, including the continued readiness of that market for Polish agricultural produce and foodstuffs, was also a topic of conversation.
An important part of the discussion, according to the Foreign Ministry, was the security situation in Europe and the Indo-Pacific area. Minister Sikorski thanked his counterpart for South Korea’s consistent critical stance toward Russian aggression against Ukraine, encouraging Seoul to play a greater role in combating Russian disinformation, further synchronizing sanctions against Russia with the European Union, and channeling support to Ukraine, among other things.
