Following her impressive performance at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Ewa Swoboda has moved up to first place in the European rankings of female sprinters. She took the top spot from Britain's Dina Asher-Smith.
The ranking takes into account the results in the 50/55/60 and 100 meters. Swoboda has 1377 points, six more than Asher-Smith, whilst Daryll Neita is in third with 1340 points.
Earlier in March, Swoboda took silver in the 60-meter sprint. On the way to the final, she set a new Polish record (6.98 seconds).

Ewa Swoboda🥈 naszą Krolową Sprintu i dumą całej Polski🇵🇱.

“I was counting on winning, I was ready for it. I'm happy because I bounced back from Belgrade (where she finished fourth), but I'm more angry,” she told TVP Sport.
In the World Athletics ranking, which incorporates all female athletes in the world, Swoboda is currently fifth. The American Sha'Carri Richardson remains number one, with 1480 points. Swoboda is hitting peak form at just the right time, with the Olympics in Paris this summer. At the age of 26 she will probably consider this her best chance at winning an olympic gold.
Her personal best of 6.98 seconds in the semi-finals in Glasgow was only the second time she ran a sub seven second race.
Saint Lucien sprinter Julien Alfred is the main obstacle that stands between her and gold. Alfred finished 0.02 seconds ahead of Swoboda in Glasgow and clocked up 6.94 last year.
