U.S. State Department approves additional military aid for Ukraine

On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of State announced a new package of weapons and equipment worth up to USD 300 million for Ukraine, aimed at supporting the country's defense against Russian aggression. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, in Washington D.C., the Ukrainian Minister of Justice and his deputy held a press briefing to raise awareness among American congressmen about the Ukrainian supplemental.

“The United States is today announcing an additional package of weapons and equipment for Ukraine to support the brave Ukrainian people as they defend their country and their freedom against Russia’s aggression,”read the press release issued by the State Department on Tuesday.

The package includes Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), artillery shells, anti-tank weapons, demolitions, small arms ammunition, as well as spare parts and ancillary equipment.

The statement added that the alliance comprising over 50 nations remains steadfast in providing crucial assistance to Ukraine’s forces.

“We look forward to providing additional U.S. support, if Congress acts on the President’s request. We urge the House to pass the supplemental as soon as possible to allow us to continue sending vital security assistance to Ukraine, replenish the U.S. military’s munition stocks, and invest in our industrial base,” the statement concluded.
Kyiv desperately needs funds

On Wednesday, the Ukrainian Minister of Justice, Denys Maliuska, and his deputy, Iryna Mudra, held a press briefing at the Ukrainian embassy in Washington, D.C. The two ministers have been authorized by the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to coordinate efforts to confiscate foreign Russian assets.

“We desperately need funds to sustain the country... Whatever Ukrainian taxpayers pay to the budget, we send everything to war [against Russia - TVP World],” Denys Maliuska told TVP World’s correspondent in the U.S., Aleksandra Sumlinska.

The Ukrainian delegation also focused on raising awareness among American congressmen about the Ukrainian supplemental.
