The historic visit of President Duda and Prime Minister Tusk emphasized the iron-clad commitment of both countries to NATO, the White House stated in a statement released on Tuesday, following the meeting. Among the topics discussed were support for Ukraine, energy security, and the importance of democratic values.
“This historic visit commemorated the 25th anniversary of Poland’s accession to NATO and emphasizes the iron commitment of both of our countries to the NATO Alliance, which makes us all safer,” the White House communication stated.
The leaders of both countries committed to “ensuring continuous support for Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression,” as well as discussed cooperation in the field of energy security and the “lasting significance of democratic values.”
The White House mentioned that, in accordance with earlier announcements, President Biden announced that the United States will provide Poland with a new USD 2 billion loan under the Foreign Military Financing program for the purchase of American weaponry, including 96 AH-64E Apache helicopters.
“This is an important step towards providing the Polish armed forces with the most advanced defense capabilities, strengthening NATO interoperability, and further bolstering the American defense industry,” the statement read.
President Biden, in a post-meeting statement on the X platform, emphasized his determination to support Ukraine.
In the next post, accompanied by a photo showing the three of them laughing, Biden wrote that he was proud to host Duda and Tusk and welcome them to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Poland’s accession to NATO.
“Our alliance is more united, determined, dynamic, and larger than ever—now with the strength of 32 countries,” wrote the President of the United States.
