TVP World, the Polish national broadcaster’s English-language news channel, is back on the air starting March 11. We are grateful to you, our viewers, for your continued support and wish to assure you that we have spent the past two months working diligently to ensure that once we return to your screens, we will continue to offer you top-quality journalism, now in a revamped, more dynamic format.

TVP World’s mission remains what it was, which is to deliver to its audiences the news as seen from the Polish and, more broadly, the Central European perspective. But while our focus will naturally be presenting to you the latest going-ons from Poland and the most recent developments in neighboring countries, we do not intend to abdicate from providing you with comprehensive coverage that will include events that make continental, even a global impact. We are, after all, TVP World.

As Russia’s aggression against Ukraine continues and has entered its third year, we intend to stand by Ukraine and continue to debunk Russian disinformation with unabated determination.

But for all the Ukrainian’s determination, the war cannot be won without Western support, most notably that of the United States of America. The recent months saw a protracted struggle over continued financial support for Ukraine in the U.S. Congress. And as the November elections will decide not only the makeup of the House of Representatives and the Senate but also, no less importantly, whether Joe Biden remains the Commander-in-Chief or whether it will be Donald Trump returning to the White House for his second term, so will the developments in the U.S. have a massive impact on how the conflict continues to develop.

How politics develop in the U.S. has a global impact, not just on the ongoing war in Ukraine but also on the situation in the Middle East, where the war between the State of Israel and the Iran-backed Islamic terrorists threatens to destabilize the entire region, something that, no doubt, would have global implications.

And on the other side of the globe, China continues to pose a threat to Taiwan’s independence, something that might distract Washington, D.C., from its NATO commitments in Europe.

Therefore, the European Union and its member states, many of whom are also members of the NATO alliance, are beginning to ramp up their defense spending. Not only in order to be able to better support Ukraine, but also to be prepared to face the growing threat of the Kremlin’s resurgent Russian imperialism, which, in spite of the massive losses on the frontlines, appears to be encouraged by the fact that it has not lost the war yet.

The Russian threat is not the only challenge, however, that the European Union faces. Mass migrations and combating climate change, both intimately intertwined problems, pose a massive challenge for the continental bloc, which must also figure out whether its current structure will be sustainable if its membership is extended to the countries of the Western Balkans, Moldova, and eventually Ukraine, as well as the countries of the Southern Caucasus in the long term. How will these problems be solved, and will the upcoming elections to the European Parliament result in some massive shift in the way Brussels conducts its business?

We are not Bond villains played by Jonathan Pryce, so we cannot give you “tomorrow’s news today.”

We are journalists.

What we can do is assure you that we are as determined to keep you informed as we always were. That is our pledge to you, our viewers and readers.

To fulfill that pledge, we have been working diligently over the past two months to revamp our programming. Fear not, however, for such formats as Eastern Express, Break the Fake, and Military Mind, which have gained massive acclaim from our viewers, will be returning. We will also bring you new programming, such as news services in Russian prepared by our colleagues from Belsat, as well as our own news service in German, a weekly press review, and more interviews with experts to keep you in the know regarding global issues that matter.

If you are a returning viewer or reader who missed us while we were on hiatus, we hope that you will find the fruits of our labor to your satisfaction. If this is the first time you are watching our channel or reading an article on our website, we are certain that you will find what we have to offer not only informative but also refreshing and eye-opening.

This is TVP World from Warsaw, Poland – the heart of Europe.
