The situation in Ukraine, sanctions against Russia and Belarus, the conflict in Gaza, transatlantic relations, and Polish foreign policy towards global changes were the topics of discussion at Wednesday’s meeting between Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski and ambassadors of G7 countries.
As reported in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Sikorski met with ambassadors from the USA, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Italy. Discussions focused on the situation in Ukraine, sanctions against Russia and Belarus, the conflict in Gaza, transatlantic relations, and Poland’s foreign policy in response to global changes.
According to the MFA, Sikorski emphasized that Vladimir Putin’s Russian Federation poses a threat to the democratic world and pointed out that Russian imperialism must be defeated in Ukraine, otherwise it will only feel more encouraged to use force.
“Minister Sikorski stressed that faced with the transition of the Russian economy into a wartime mode, the North Atlantic Alliance and the European Union must take action to overcome Russia’s previous advantage in ammunition production. He also highlighted the need for further strengthening and tightening sanctions against Russia and Belarus,” the ministry stated.
As emphasized by the MFA, Sikorski assured his guests that in being aware of Poland’s growing political, military, and economic position, Poland is ready to take on greater responsibility in defending Western values.
