Yet another Russian disinformation operation is underway, this one aiming to cause conflict between Ukrainians and the Hungarian minority, according to a statement issued on Monday by the Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation (CPD), an agency of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

In a statement published on the Telegram social media platform, CPD announced that members of the Hungarian minority began to receive text messages in Hungarian, telling them to “get out of Ukraine”.

Although the messages are ostensibly sent by supposed “Ukrainian nationalists,” the phone numbers imply they were registered with phone providers from Kazakhstan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kirgistan, the agency pointed out.

According to CPD, it is yet another disinformation and psychological operation carried out by the Kremlin, in order to create an impression that “Ukrainian nationalists” are threatening Hungarians and causing a conflict between Ukrainians and the Hungarian minority in Ukraine.
