Luna, with the song ‘The Tower’, will represent Poland in the 68th Eurovision Song Contest in May. The 24-year-old alternative scene artist, endowed with an original voice, impressed the members of the Competition Commission, who chose her song from among 212 submitted proposals meeting the regulatory requirements.
Each member of the Commission, after listening to and evaluating all submitted songs, indicated ten favorites to whom they awarded points from 1 to 10. Luna’s song titled ‘The Tower’ scored the most points, a total of 34. By taking first place in the ranking, it won the national pre-selection for the 68th Eurovision Song Contest.
Luna [Aleksandra Katarzyna Wielgomas] is 24 years old and studies Liberal arts at the University of Warsaw. She sings, plays the violin and piano, writes, and composes music. She is also a yoga instructor. Art, philosophy, fashion, and astrology are her biggest passions.
She loves books, Nick Cave, and Björk. Luna’s friends and colleagues say about her that she radiates light, positive energy, and mysterious charm, as if she’s not quite of this world.
In 2023, Luna began collaborating with producers from the U.K. and Sweden, during which she created songs for herself and for international artists. Her ‘Subterranean’, recorded with DJ Miss Monique and Avira, has over 3 million streams.
The song ‘The Tower’, with which Luna will travel to Sweden in May, was created in the U.K. in collaboration with Fyfe and Max Cooke. The track was specifically written with Eurovision in mind.
“The Tower” - as the artist declares - is a manifesto of freedom and strength. Emerging from darkness and obscurity. Abandoning bonds, blockades, limitations, negative patterns, and relationships. Demolishing the tower and stepping out into the world. “I hope that this song will ignite all of us to fight for ourselves, our own freedom, love, and sense of worth. To be fully ourselves, without boundaries,” she said.
Thanks to Loreen’s victory in last year’s contest, Sweden became the host of this year’s Eurovision. The contest will be held in the capital of the Skåne region, Malmö. The semi-finals are scheduled for May 7th and 9th. The representative of Poland will perform in the first semi-final on May 7th. The Grand Final will take place on May 11th, 2024.
All concerts will be available to watch live on Polish Television. In this year’s edition of the contest, which will take place under the slogan ‘United By Music,’ 37 countries will participate.
