The group serves as a rapid multinational response force and comprises vessels from NATO member countries.

The command of the group rotates among the participating nations, with Germany currently holding the command.

This visit took place in the context of intensified NATO activities in the North and Baltic Seas, amidst the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

According to the spokeswoman for the 3rd Flotilla, named after Commander Bolesław Romanowski, Lieutenant Commander Anna Sech, the last and fifth vessel arrived at the Gdynia port before 10:00 a.m. for a working visit. “The units will replenish supplies and will depart from the Port of Gdynia on May 30,” Sech added.

At the Gdynia Naval Port, the Polish guided-missile frigate ORP Gen. T. Kościuszko and the Spanish guided-missile frigate ESPS Alvaro De Bazan have berthed.

The German frigate FGS Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the Portuguese frigate NRP Bartolomeu Dias docked at the French Quay.

The Dutch guided-missile frigate HNLMS Van Amstel berthed at the United States Quay.
