Heart of Europe TV Festival kicks off on Tuesday

The second edition of the Heart of Europe International TV Festival, organised by the Polish public broadcaster TVP kicks off November 15. Heart of Europe is the first festival dedicated to television productions in countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

The festival aims to promote and activate the region’s television creativity and popularise public media and strengthen their role in Europe’s media landscape. Broadcasters and authors from over a dozen countries in the region of Central and Eastern Europe were invited to participate.

“The success of the first edition of the festival has shown that there is a need for closer cooperation among creators in our region,” Marek Solon-Lipiński, Director of TVP International Relations Department said.

He added that “the aim of the event is to build a forum where public broadcasters, creators or producers from Central and Eastern Europe can learn about each other's work, establish new connections and build business relationships.”

This year’s festival presents the best films, series, documentaries, as well as children’s programmes and digital projects created by public TV stations from Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Georgia.

The organisers of the festival will select up to 10 projects in three categories: Feature Film, Feature Series and Documentary. Later on, the chosen productions will be presented at the festival event.

Co-Production Forum 2022

Moreover, the programme the second edition of the Heart of Europe TV Festival also includes a Co-production Forum for producers, writers and directors that will take place November 14-17, 2022 in Warsaw.

“Our purpose is to create an opportunity to establish co-production and business exchange for the invitees within the region. Along with the forum participants we will be hosting sales and acquisitions specialists, film institutes, film commissions, film funds and broadcasters, as well as Polish producers and production and programming representatives of the Polish Public Television,” the official website of the event states.
