Kalush Orchestra’s Eurovision trophy sold for EUR 835,000

The crystal microphone trophy awarded to the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest winners, Kalush Orchestra was auctioned off for EUR 835,000.

The Ukrainian band announced soon after their victory that they intend to sell the trophy and donate the proceeds to their country’s military, who for over three months now have been putting up determined resistance against the Russian invasion.

The trophy, which Kalush Orchestra won for their song “Stefania”, dedicated to Ukrainian mothers, was sold at an online auction conducted via Facebook, with Ukrainian TV presenter Serhiy Prytula playing the role of auctioneer. According to Mr Prytula, the funds raised will be used to purchase the PD-2 unmanned aerial system for the armed forces, it includes three aircraft and a ground control station.
